Tax Planning & Advisory

Bring perspective to your next decision.

Tax preparation looks at what has happened. Planning and advisory work bring tax and financial considerations into decisions still ahead. We help business owners and families identify questions, evaluate alternatives, and define practical next steps within an agreed engagement.

WHO WE HELP

For business decisions with personal consequences

We serve small businesses operating as LLCs, corporations, and partnerships, from startup through growth and maturity. Our experience includes physicians, attorneys, real estate professionals, domestic and foreign investors, and rental property owners. We connect planning discussions with the business, ownership, and family circumstances that give them meaning.

A CLEAR ENGAGEMENT

What your support can include.

We define the services, responsibilities, deliverables, and fees before work begins. Your engagement agreement determines what is included.

Tax-picture review

Review of relevant returns, financial information, current-year changes, and the questions you want to address.

Forward-looking tax discussions

Discussion of estimated tax needs, timing considerations, and the potential tax implications of business or investment changes.

Business advisory

Financial-reporting, cash-flow, profitability, and growth discussions to the extent agreed, using the records and assumptions available.

Options and action priorities

A discussion of alternatives, information gaps, responsibilities, and follow-up priorities; detailed analyses or ongoing meetings are defined in the engagement.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Clear answers before
the first conversation.

How is tax planning different from tax preparation?

Tax preparation focuses on reporting and filing for a tax year. Tax planning considers decisions and anticipated activity before or during the year. They inform one another, but planning is not automatically included in a return-preparation engagement.

What does advisory add to tax planning?

Advisory broadens the conversation to business finances and decisions, such as cash flow, profitability, reporting, and growth. We agree on the questions and work to be covered so you know whether the engagement is tax-focused, business-focused, or coordinated.

When should we contact you?

Ideally before making a significant decision or committing to transaction terms. You can also contact us when income changes, the business enters a new stage, or you want a more consistent planning relationship. Timing and available records affect what can be assessed.

Can you help with questions about our entity structure?

We can discuss tax considerations associated with your current or proposed structure, including the information needed for further analysis. Legal formation, governing documents, and other legal work are separately scoped with the appropriate professional; tax advisory alone does not establish a legal-services engagement.

Do you advise real estate investors and rental property owners?

Yes. We bring experience with domestic and foreign real estate investors and rental property owners. We discuss proposed property activity in the context of the owner’s broader tax and financial picture and identify any international or other specialist coordination needed.

Can we arrange an ongoing advisory relationship?

Yes. The frequency of meetings, analyses, deliverables, responsibilities, and fees can be defined in an ongoing engagement. A focused project is also an option when you have a specific decision to address.
