WHO WE HELP

Tax preparation for LLCs, corporations, and partnerships

We serve small businesses at every stage of development, from new ventures to established, multigenerational companies. Our experience includes physicians, attorneys, real estate professionals, domestic and foreign real estate investors, and rental property owners. We start by understanding your activities, ownership, and tax filing history.

A CLEAR ENGAGEMENT

What your support can include.

We define the services, responsibilities, deliverables, and fees before work begins. Your engagement agreement determines what is included.

Federal and state income tax returns

Preparation of the business income tax returns identified in your engagement, based on the entity’s tax classification and filing needs.

Review of business records

Review of financial reports and supporting information, with follow-up questions about missing records, unusual transactions, and changes during the year.

Owner information and coordination

Coordination of owner information and applicable schedules with individual tax preparation, where both services are engaged.

Review, authorization, and filing

A discussion of material questions, a return review and authorization process, and filing coordination within the agreed scope.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Clear answers before
the first conversation.

Do you work with LLCs, corporations, and partnerships?

Yes. We work with each of these business structures. An LLC’s legal form does not by itself determine its federal income tax filing treatment; ownership and tax elections matter. We review your circumstances before determining the return-preparation scope. See the IRS overview of LLC tax classification.

Can you prepare both the business and owners’ individual returns?

Yes. We can coordinate business and individual tax preparation when both are included in the agreed engagements. This is particularly useful for owners whose business information needs to be considered alongside their family’s other income and financial activities.

What if our bookkeeping needs attention first?

We begin by reviewing the condition of your records. If reconciliations, corrections, or cleanup are needed, we identify that work and agree on a separate bookkeeping scope before relying on the reports for tax preparation.

Can we switch accountants during the year?

Yes. An introductory discussion can take place at any point in the year. We review upcoming deadlines, prior filings, available records, and the transition from your current accountant before agreeing on a start date. Acceptance and timing depend on the work involved and availability.

Is tax planning included in return preparation?

Return preparation and tax planning serve different purposes. We may identify planning questions while preparing a return, but a detailed projection, transaction analysis, or ongoing advisory relationship is separately scoped unless expressly included in your engagement.

How are fees determined?

Fees reflect the entity, number and complexity of returns, quality of the records, ownership structure, state or international matters, and services requested. We discuss the work and fees before the engagement begins. A consultation helps us define an appropriate scope rather than quote from the entity name alone.
